COMA

INTRODUCTION

Coma: A state of deep unresponsiveness, where a person cannot be woken and is unconscious.

COMA COMA

Coma typically is a sign of minimal mental activity due to the failure of the brain to function properly. Their body can still exercise involuntary actions like breathing, digestion and heart beating, but cannot respond to external stimuli that require voluntary actions such as responding to pain, eating and defecating. In some cases, comatose people may need machines to help them breathe normally. Normally, a coma will last for a few weeks before slowly regaining consciousness. Any longer than that will progresses a coma to a vegetative state or even worse, brain death.

SYMPTOMS SYMPTOMS

The symptoms of coma are based on the state of unresponsiveness to external stimuli. These may include:

    • Closed eyes
    • Irregular breathing
    • Irresponsive limbs, excluding reflex movements
    • No reaction to painful stimuli, excluding reflex movements
    • No brainstem motor reflex such as pupils not responding to bright light

WHAT CAUSES COMA? CAUSES  COMA?

Any physical traumas, diseases and chemical usages that affect the brain either directly or indirectly may cause coma. Several common causes of coma are:

    • Cerebral infarction
    • Cerebral neoplasms
    • Hypoglycemia
    • Metabolic encephalopathy
    • Status epilepticus
    • Toxic encephalopathy
    • Cerebral hemorrhage
      • Spontaneous
      • Traumatic
    • Myxedemama

CURRENT TREATMENTS TREATMENTS

A comatose person requires a medical treatment in order to stabilize the patient. To put it simply, the treatments are based on the cause of the coma itself:

Causes of coma

Treatment

WHAT WE OFFER? WE OFFER?

STEM CELL RESEARCH - CELLTIMAX CELLTIMAX

CelltiMax is a product derived from human umbilical cord-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs). The cells are cultured, then administered to the patient via intramuscular or intravenous injection.

The cells have low immunogenicity making them safe, well-tolerated and free of side effects. They have the ability to differentiate into specialized cells with specific functions for various parts of the body, and can reduce inflammation, repair, renew, regenerate, and replace damaged cells.

HOW IT WORKS? WORKS?

A comatose person needs constant vigilance and to be looked out for any kind of response and stimulus. In general, their health is at risk of being compromised due to impaired motor functions and consciousness. Therefore, they require thorough long-term care by their caretaker to preserve their general wellness, especially if they have injuries leading to a state of coma. Medications that promote the healing of related injuries and overall health would be suited to help treat them.
