Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune and inflammatory disease that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells in the body, leading to inflammation (painful swelling) in affected areas.
RA primarily affects joints, often many joints at once. The joints most commonly affected are those in the hands, wrists, and knees. In a joint affected by RA, the synovial membrane becomes inflamed, causing damage to the joint tissue. This tissue damage can result in chronic pain, balance problems, and misalignment.
RA can also affect other tissues throughout the body and cause problems in organs such as the lungs, heart and eyes.
In RA, there are periods when symptoms worsen, known as flares or exacerbations, and periods when symptoms improve or disappear, known as remission.
In RA, there are times when symptoms worsen, which are called relapses, and times when symptoms improve, which are called remission.
Signs and symptoms of RA include:
RA is the result of an immune response in which the body’s immune system attacks its own healthy cells. The specific causes of RA are unknown, but some factors can increase the risk of developing the disease.
RA patients should be diagnosed and treated by rheumatologists. This is particularly important because the signs and symptoms of RA can be similar to those of other inflammatory joint diseases. RA can be effectively managed with medications and self-management strategies. Treatment for RA typically involves the use of medications that slow the progression of the disease and prevent joint deformities, called disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs); biological response modifiers (biologics) are medications that are effective as second-line treatments. In addition to medication, individuals can manage their RA with self-management strategies that have been shown to reduce pain and disability and allow them to engage in activities that are important to them.
Others medications can help relieve RA symptoms and especially pain:
CelltiX is a type of extracellular vesicle from Umbilical Cord-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) manufactured in a cGMP-compliant facility.
It is a novel form of a major paracrine factor released by MSCs into a culture medium, which plays an important role in a wide range of biological processes.
CelltiMax is a product derived from human umbilical cord-derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs). The cells are cultured, then administered to the patient via intramuscular or intravenous injection. They have the ability to differentiate into specialized cells with specific functions for various parts of the body, and can reduce inflammation, repair, renew, regenerate, and replace damaged cells.
